A facilitated closed group to reveal, explore and shift patterns of self and other. An Interpersonal Group acts as a psychotherapeutic container of shared practice grounded in safety, honesty, and ownership of feeling.
Wednesday evenings 6:30–8:00pm
February 3rd to April 7th 2027,
Kangaroo Flat, Victoria
Applications close: January 27th

Not the right fit if you're in acute crisis or looking for a structured skills program.
“There is no human deed or thought that lies fully outside the experience of other people.”
— Irvin D. Yalom
Interpersonal Group Therapy is the model created by Irvin Yalom, the world's most widely read living psychotherapist. Individuals gather in a small, consistent group to explore how they show up in relationship. Through interaction and feedback, members gain insight into their relational patterns, develop new ways of connecting, and discover they're not alone in how they struggle. The group is the instrument of change — not a classroom, not a support group.
We work with what's alive in the room — between members, in the silence, in the moment. There's no agenda, no topic for the week, except for what members bring. The focus is on the here-and-now: what you're feeling, what you're noticing in relation to others, what's hard to say. The leader supports the group to hold the collaborative conditions for honest sharing, allowing the group's 'work' to happen.
90 minutes weekly, 10-week terms. The first term is a beginning. Change can be immediate, although Interpersonal Psychotherapy Groups can become the highlight of people's week, and most people experience the deepest change over 12–24 months of consistent group work.
After the first term, the group decides together whether to continue. New members may possibly join at term boundaries.
Individual therapy helps you understand your patterns and potentially shift them with a trained therapist. An Interpersonal Group gives you a live relational space where patterns don't just get talked about, they show up, in real time, with multiple other people who are there for similar reasons. Shared vulnerability, witnessed over weeks and months, builds something that insight alone doesn't reach.
A group here is made up either entirely of people I also see individually, or entirely of people I don’t. Never a mix. Where some members have a private hour with the facilitator each week and others don’t, access is uneven in a way that shapes everything the group then does with it — so there are two.
Wednesday — open to anyone. No requirement to be in individual therapy, with me or with anyone else. This is the group described above, starting February 3rd.
Monday — for people in individual therapy with me. Every member is also a client of my individual practice. If you’d like to join this one and we aren’t already working together, individual sessions would begin first. If that isn’t what you’re looking for, the Wednesday group is open.
Both run 90 minutes weekly, in 10-week terms, at Kangaroo Flat, at the same cost.
Term: 10 consecutive weeks (break for school holidays)
When: Wednesday evenings 6:30–8:00pm
Where: Kangaroo Flat
Monday group: same format, same cost, for clients of my individual practice — ask about the next term.
Cost: $800 for the term ($80/session). 50% deposit secures your place. If cost is a barrier, reach out.
Medicare rebates are not available for group therapy under most arrangements. Some private health insurance with extras may cover part of the cost.
That depends which group. The Wednesday group is open to anyone — individual therapy alongside it is recommended but not required, and if you don’t have a therapist I can help find one. The Monday group is made up of people I see individually, so joining that one means individual sessions with me as well. Either way, group work can stir things up between sessions, which is part of why a therapist alongside it helps.
Almost everyone is. No pressure to speak early on — but the work does require leaning into that discomfort eventually. That's what we're here to practise.
Attendance matters — the group depends on people showing up. If you need to miss one, let me know when you sign up. More than two absences makes meaningful work difficult, and we'd check in about timing.
No. The group focuses on relational patterns, not narrating personal history. Disclosure is never required.
The discovery call is designed to answer this. We talk through where you're at and whether the group fits.
Book a free 15-minute intake call. We'll talk through where you're at and whether the group is the right fit.
Looking for one-to-one work instead? Individual sessions run 50 minutes, in Bendigo, Kyneton or online.
Trained in interpersonal group psychotherapy under Dr Tra-ill Dowie. Integrative-attachment and relational in approach — present, direct, and interested in what's alive in the room. I don't direct the group toward a particular outcome; I hold the conditions for the group's own work to happen.
